NWA 482 (Lunar)

On January 10, 2001 a stone was purchased by Michael Farmer in Alnif, Morocco. The NWA 482 was believed to have fallen somewhere in the Sahara Desert possibly in Algeria. The stone weighed 1015 grams.

The NWA 482 is one of the most ascetically appealing lunar meteorites as it has an off white matrix rather than the usual grey or black. Another unique feature of the NWA 482 is that it is the only Lunar meteorite found so far to be oriented! The NWA is classified as a crystalline impact melt breccia (polymict).
