In 1996, near the Chihuahua region of Mexico, a rock hunter searching for minerals found a large specimen. Later, in 2001, a rancher came across dozens more fragments spread across a 200-meter line.
The Aldama meteorite is classified as an H5 chondrite. McCartney Taylor estimates that around 8 kg of material has been recovered.
